Dalla Fonte's Fall Release

Honoring our Bari roots

Our latest release

Fall 2023

Papa’s Puglian Favorites

The region of Puglia is known for its olive oil, rich agricultural valleys, and picturesque coastlines. But for us, Puglia is the birthplace of our Papa, Panteleone Sciangelepore. This season’s box honors our Bari roots and the cuisine that influenced our own family traditions.

Buon appetito!

This Season’s Vino

Rampone Minutolo

This season, we are so excited to feature our first white wine! Our goal at Dalla Fonte is to introduce our members to unique Italian products that would not otherwise be found at home…and this bottle is a perfect example. (Has anyone even heard of the minutolo grape?!) This ancient varietal grew for centuries in Puglia before being abandoned and brought back from the brink of extinction by producers like I Pastini. Serve chilled alongside your roasted wheat orecchiette or create an aperitivo moment and enjoy with your roasted vegetable-topped bruschette.

Mixed Grilled Vegetables

San Ferdinando di Puglia, just north of Bari and near the famed coast of the Gargano peninsula, has long been celebrated for its fresh fruit and vegetable crops, especially artichokes.

Grandfather Ferdinando Todisco was the first in his family to begin to conserve the local artichokes, using just water, salt, and vinegar.

Since then two more generations of the family have broadened their expertise to make a variety of locally-sourced vegetables and olives in oil and vinegar, always with a nod to seasonal, hand processing and careful selection of raw materials from Puglia.

This delicious, versatile and colorful blend of grilled Pugliese vegetables includes peppers, carrots, eggplant, zucchini and onions. Lightly pickled and preserved under quality olive oil. A perfect topping for bruschetta and pasta.

Rosemary Bruschette

The basis of every Puglian appetizer is the bruschetta topped with fresh tomatoes and drizzled with olive oil. Years ago, these crackers were born from the need to make use of stale bread but today high-quality, raw ingredients make the difference in Terre dei Trulli’s rosemary bruschette. Extra virgin olive oil produced in an ancient oil mill in Alberobello and Apulian soft wheat flour are the basis of this bruschette creating a crunchy, fragrant, and authentic product. Enjoy alongside a glass of wine or topped with mixed vegetables or cheese.

Everyday Kitchen EVOO

Puglia has around 60 million olive trees that produce 40% of Italy’s olive oil and is often considered the best in the country. We tasted dozens of olive oils from this region but Vignoli’s Everyday Kitchen stuck out. This crowd-pleasing olive oil combines Coratina and Ogliarola Barese olives that result in an extremely balanced EVOO. Surprisingly delicious and so good for you, Vignoli’s top-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils are rich in healthy polyphenols. Pour it over salads or bruschetta, add it to your pasta, or fill up your ceramic dipping bowl and add some Herbs & Salt for the perfect dipping experience.

Herbs and Sea Salt

This blend of Adriatic sea salt and herbs from the Italian peninsula take our favorite seasoning to the next level. Produced by Nicola and Paola DeLaurentis’ Casina Rossa, this fragrant jar is an absolute delight that improves everything it touches. In this season’s box, use it liberally over the roasted vegetables and orecchiette. Have some great bread? Combine this season’s EVOO and herb salt into your ceramic bowl for an amazing (and adorable) dipping experience. A pantry staple and perfect rub for grilling steak, chicken, or prawns, sprinkling over bruschetta or pasta for added flavor.

Herb blend includes Rosemary, Sage, Oregano, Bayleaf, Parsley, Scallion, Black Pepper, White Pepper, Garlic, Juniper

Roasted Wheat Orecchiette

L’ultimo Forno translates literally to “The Last Oven”, this line of artisan foods is produced by a dedicated, four-family consortium in the Basilicata city of Matera. As evidenced by the trade name, elegant visual aesthetic, and full extraordinary flavor, each product of the L’Ultimo Forno line exemplifies both unparalleled quality and a sense of place. Lucania, the territory in which Matera is located, has long been known as the breadbasket of Italy.

The unique flavor and structure of Lucano of Matera bread owes to the character of Lucano Grano Duro wheat, regarded as one of the world’s finest and purest grain cultivators. For thousands of years, this wheat has been cultivated by the same environmentally respectful principles. It is neither genetically modified nor treated by chemicals of any kind. For tens of centuries, Lucano Grano Duro has been milled and transformed into bread and other unique products in Matera, a UNESCO-protected site and one of the ten oldest cities in the world.

L’Ultimo Forno’s Orecchiette, or “little ears”, is a shape of pasta hailing from the region of Puglia, Italy. This Farina Arsa version is toasted in an oven to add nutty flavor and earthy color.

Puglian Tomato Sauce

For two years, Claudio Vignoli scoured Puglia for the perfect tomato to create his line of sauces. This season, members will be treated to one of two variations; the tomato and basil or the black olive.

Simple, natural, and traditional Italian ingredients stand front and center with these recipes. The best pitted black olives are blended with sweet tomatoes to create this amazingly well-balanced sauce. Toss it with your favorite pasta or spoon it atop toasted bruschetta for a quick and easy appetizer.

Vignoli uses traditional recipesthat have been passed down through generations of Italian cooks.

Lemon-Glazed Taralli

Taralli can be found all across Italy but their origins are in Puglia. We have included savory versions in past releases and wanted to search for something new for this box. Terre dei Trulli’s glazed version quickly become an addicting favorite. Typically made on December 13th for the Celebration of Saint Lucia, these simple lemon treats served alongside espresso complete any meal.

Ceramic Dipping Bowl

Olive oil and salt deserve a beautiful dipping bowl. Loliva produces the perfect hand-painted, ceramic version that dresses up any Italian table.

Loliva is an all female company led by three women who share a great passion for their hometown of Salento, Puglia. All of their products are from artisans and food producers that honor the traditions and culture of Puglia.

MIke's Playlist

According to Mike, the only way to prepare a meal or sip a glass of wine is with music playing in the background. So each season he will curate a collection of his favorite songs for enjoying your Tavola and Tavola + Vino boxes.
